Your dog is wearing his tag, you are sure, but still you worry. You sit by the phone and wished there was someting else you could do....... and there is!
PetWatchClub.com - a social networking site for pets and their owners - has added a new tool in the fight to find missing and lost pets: an online "missing pet alert" system that notifies and recruits dozens of local pet owners in the search for missing pets.
The tool is simple to use, free, and effective. By visiting www.PetWatchClub.com and clicking on the "missing pets" icon, owners of missing pets gain access to a form where they can describe their pet, where it was last seen, and provide contact information. A photo of their pet can also be added to the missing pet alert if the owner is a member of PetWatchClub.
Upon submitting their alert application, an email with the missing pet's information is forwarded to all PetWatchClub.com members within a 10 mile radius of the last location the pet was seen. With over 3000 registered PetWatchClub.com members, this often means that dozens of people in a very targeted area are notified. In addition, a web page is created in the missing pets section of the www.PetWatchClub.com website. For up to three weeks, website visitors can view the information and notify the owner if they have any information about the missing pet.
PetWatchClub.com started in September 2006 with the goal of helping pets and their owners find and connect with each other in their local neighborhoods and cities. It's original purpose was to help owners find friendly families to take in their pets when they go on short trips or vacations, rather than send their pet to a kennel or boarding facility.
Members have access to a set of basic, but very effective tools. Members create custom profiles of themselves, their homes, and their pets. The pet profiles include pictures, likes, dislikes, habits and quirks. A search tool allows members to find other members in their local area. Using a simple messaging tool, they can safely reach out and introduce themselves. From that introduction, members can see if there is a "fit" and can then choose to meet up and build a friendship between them and their pets.
The club is free to join and includes many other fun things focused on the pet, like a story board, pet photo album, and more. The introduction of the missing pet alert system is just the latest addition to our exciting and growing online pet community!
