Avocado for healthy skin and coat

Hard to believe, but cats (some cats anyway) love to eat avocado. It helps to build a soft coat, and helps to prevent skin dryness.

Avocados are poisonous to cats.  Do not feed it to your cats!

I appreciate the information. It's confusing -- the following sites suggest avocado is ok for cats:

http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=12488 (which uses it in their AvoDerm Natural Chicken & Herring Formula Kitten and Adult Cat Food)

http://www.petstruly.com/dasuquin-cat-84.html (which includes it in a nutritional supplement for cats)

. . . but lots of other sites do say that it's poisonous. I will ask my vet.

While there are a few foods that both humans and pets can enjoy, some foods that are healthy for us can be dangerous to cats and other animal companions. One example is the avocado.

Avocado are toxic to cats. They may like it but not necessary.

Thanks for the info. My vet also said to discontinue the avocado treats, and find something else. I guess I have to start chopping chicken liver again (bleahhh!)  It's weird, because she loves avocado so much and it never seemed to cause her any discomfort.
