Anybody here have seen a cockfight?Filipinos may say its the "Gentleman's Game"..

Its kinda normal in philippines, the cockpits are everywhere actually, some people treats it as a game and some gambles with it.

Do you agree with these kind of game?or maybe its cruelty to animals......

Please be aware that *** Fighting is ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL in the United States, and it is considered cruelty to animals!  Calling it a "Gentlemen's Sport" in the Phillipines is one thing, but it is known here as a "Blood Sport!"  Just like Dog Fighting, it is done strictly for greed with no concern for the animal's pain and suffering.  In this Country we strive to take care of all animals in a humane manner.  God gave us dominion over all animals, and to abuse that responsibility and privilege is an affront to all life.

It seems to be a "cultural" thing.  I abhor cruelty to animals.  What I don't understand is why so many people who move to the United States from other countries seem to think that "Land of the Free" means that they can do anything they want to do here, irregardless of our laws.   I wish that all people coming here were required to take classes to familarize them with OUR customs and laws, so they would understand what is expected of them and what "freedom" really means.  There is a conflict of legality, also.  Most other countries are ruled under the Napoleonic Code (meaning you can do anything as long as you don't get caught, and if you get caught you are dead), and you are either the "top dog" or "the lowest" enslaved by the top dog.  The U.S., on the other hand, is modeled after a Democratic system wherein we are all considered "equal" with the privilege of freedom of speech against our own Government, but we have to be "responsible" for what we say and the repercussions that may follow. As long as we pay attention to and abide by our laws, we have equality and freedom.  Why would anyone in their right minds want to bring customs that clash with our laws here?  They might as well just stay where they are and happily torture poor defenseless animals all they want to.

From what i know, its a traditional thing.Maybe some people who goes places to another should have a proper briefing beforehand.Different races has different cultures and own traditions. We should respect every ones beliefs but not to the extent of applying ones culture in a different place which is obviously not applicable.I know that cruelty to animals is a strictly prohibited law in the states.Thats why some americans who really love the sport often visits philippines or sometimes stay for good.As a responsible pet owners like us,we should support anti-cruelty to animals and participate in some organizations who are against with torturing animals.

Very well put!  I couldn't agree with you more.  Also, if everyone would speak American English instead of insisting that all Americans speak "their country's language" then these problems with communications could be resolved.  English is now considered the number one World language!  Everything of importance, Medical Journals, Mathematical Journals, Federal Communications Commission Journals, Nasa Communications, Financial Communications, etc., are all published in English only.  Anyone who wants to EXCELL in this World today MUST SPEAK ENGLISH!  To not learn English is the best way to keep yourself "down," misinformed, and stuck in the lowest paying jobs there are.  It's self-defeating.

Agreed.Everyone should support each other. What about those hard to reach places who are affected by war,or some poor places who have kids who cannot afford school?Definitely, english is a very important language. It is used all over the world. But i hope that, some people will notice those  who are in need of knowledge.

Monsignor Gallagher, the head of my Church, was a very Christ-like man.  He strove to help people all over the World, by building schools, providing books, and building libraries in third world countries like Guana.  He even built a new High School right here.  He recently passed away, but his replacement, Father John, is determined to continue Monsignor Gallagher's philanthropic dreams to help to educate EVERYBODY!
